The Wheelwright Inn

wrsignOnce the home of the village wheelwright, the Wheelwright Inn has been at the heart of the community of Colyford for centuries. After a period of decline and recent closure the Wheelwright is now up and running again under the ownership of local business partners Sebastian Grabos and Nigel Nidd.

Now fully back in business, the Wheelwright offers all that a good pub should... with a difference. The emphasis is firmly on using as much local produce as possible, both in the kitchen and behind the bar. Food covers the whole range from bar snacks to full meals, created by the Wheelwright's chefs from the best and freshest local ingredients. Similarly, the drinks offerings feature beers and ciders from local suppliers, as well as some of the more widely-available national brands.

The pub offers a large characterful main bar, separate dining room, games room with pool, pinball and table football, plus outside seating on the attractive sunny patio. Open all day, every day, the Wheelwright offers a warm welcome to all-comers, visitors to the area and members of the local community alike. Children and dogs are more than welcome... provided both are on a lead!

The Local Area

The historic coastal resorts of Lyme Regis and Sidmouth are both within easy reach of the Wheelwright, and even nearer are the Victorian sea-side town of Seaton and the renowned fishing village of Beer (Village of the Year Finalist 2018).

Colyford itself and nearby Colyton both have long and varied histories, and the market town of Axminster is a short distance away. Axminster also offers the nearest mainline train station to the Wheelwright, with services to Exeter and London, and buses connecting Axminster, Seaton, Honiton, and Beer stop right outside the pub.

In addition the scenic Seaton Tramway, with its fascinating collection of historic trams, runs through Colyford, with the station just a 5 minute walk from the Wheelwright.
